Cooper, OD, more commonly known as “Coop,” has joined its growing team of eyecare specialists to further the creative organization’s position as the trusted resource the next generation of optometrists and ophthalmologists turns to for education, content, and business trends.

Dr. Cooper’s new role will ensure that today’s eyecare professionals can acquire breakthrough medical insight on topics including, ocular surface disease, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), glaucoma, myopia/presbyopia, contact lenses, refractive surgery, and practice management, to name a few.

Dr. Cooper is a respected optometrist and past Director of Professional Strategies at Kala Pharmaceuticals in Arlington, MA. Additionally, he co-founded Intrepid Eye Society in 2015 which comprises a diverse group of emerging thought leaders with a goal to promote excellence and growth within the ophthalmic space. He specializes in anterior segment disease, where he treats and lectures domestically and internationally on a variety of conditions, including dry eye/ external lid diseases, allergy, uveitis, sports-related eye injuries in children, AMD pedigree relationships, and more. Dr Cooper has served on numerous scientific advisory boards, provided spokesperson support for various OTC drug launches, and has consulted for multiple industry partners focusing on market strategy and development. His work has been published in both peer-reviewed and trade journals such as: Review of Optometry, Clinical Ophthalmology, Modern Optometry, Cataract and Refractive Surgery Today, Optometry/Ophthalmology Times, The Ophthalmologist, Chain Drug Review, Dulaney Foundation ophthalmic supplements, Primary Care Optometry News, and Optometric/Ophthalmology Management.
Additionally, Dr. Cooper has been actively involved in global clinical studies for novel, anti-infective therapeutics, evaluating the efficacy of meibomian gland treatment modalities, ocular surface diagnostic validation, retrospective glaucoma real-world chart review analyses, and AMD genetic research at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. In 2020, he was awarded a federal grant to evaluate diabetes care efficiently across a multispecialty environment within a community health center setting.
