Wendell Scott, MD

Wendell J Scott MD is a graduate of University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. He trained in ophthalmology at the University of Missouri-Columbia, served as an Assistant Clinical Professor at University of Missouri-Columbia and has been in practice for 30 years in Springfield, Missouri.

Dr. Scott’s interests include femtosecond laser cataract surgery, astigmatism correction, and premium intraocular lenses. Mercy National Eye Center is the highest volume laser cataract surgery center in the United States. He performed the first pediatric laser cataract surgery in the U.S. and the first toric IOL fixation with a laser created posterior capsulotomy. He has developed improved capsulotomy settings and published data showing decreased complications with laser surgery.

Dr. Scott is a co-founder of the Vision Rehabilitation Center of the Ozarks. Other interests include instrument design, povidone iodine research, and teaching of effective emergency treatment of chemical eye injuries.
