Sara Shkalim Shissias, OD, FAAO

Dr. Sara Shkalim Shissias grew up in Brooklyn, New York and graduated from SUNY Binghamton University, with a Bachelors of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology. After completing her degree, she entered the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and received her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2010.

Upon graduation from optometry school, Dr. Shissias completed a one year residency specializing in Low Vision and Rehabilitation at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Dr. Shissias's interest in low vision, as well as academic instruction, led her to not only provide care for low vision patients but also lecture on the subject of optical principles in ophthalmics course at Salus University. Dr. Shissias became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry in 2012 and has lectured at several Academy meetings. Currently, Dr. Shissias is an optometrist at Horizon Eye Care, and M.D/O.D. practice in New Jersey.

Dr. Sara Shissias enjoys utilizing all aspects of her education when in patient care. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, gardening and traveling with her fellow optometrist husband, Dr. Nickolas Shissias.
