Jamie Surgent-Nahay

Jamie Surgent-Nahay is a fourth-year medical student at the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. She has a keen passion for ophthalmology that originated from her time as a technician and scribe at Omni Eye Services, a large referral-based practice located in the greater New York metropolitan area, prior to medical school. As both a scribe and technician, Jamie worked with multiple sub-specialties such as general, cataract, glaucoma, retina, pediatrics/strabismus, neuro-ophthalmology, and dry eye.

She obtained her Master of Science in biomedical sciences and healthcare administration from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore, Maryland.

She has elected to actively participate in clinical research at the Scheie Eye Institute of the Presbyterian Medical Center of the University of Pennsylvania Health Care System during the 2023-2024 academic year to further broaden her exposure and start contributing to the field of ophthalmology. She intends to pursue a future in ophthalmology after her research year, beginning her residency applications in 2024.

Jamie enjoys writing, baking, listening to music, and connecting with friends and family.
